The SAGEWorkbench package is a self-contained environment containing all components of the SAGE Workbench suitable for installation on a Windows machine. If it is installed on the C: drive, it will run without any modification; otherwise please modify the paths in the bat files located in the SAGEWorkbench\start\ directory.

To view and edit any of the SAGE knowledge bases, a user starts the workbench by running the startXXX.bat batch file in the SAGEWorkbench\start\ directory (assuming that the SAGEWorkbench is installed as C:\SAGEWorkbench). Protege, upon which the SAGE Workbench is based, will prompt for a user name and a password for accessing the Apelon DTS terminology server. See below for how to get a user name and password. If you don't have a valid username and password or if you are not connected to the Internet, close the dialog box. You will be able to view and edit the guideline knowledge base without the terminology service.

Use startImmunization.bat, startCAP.bat and startDiabetes.bat for viewing and editing each of the three guideline knowledge bases.

The user interface for the SAGE Workbench are organized in a number of tabs. See the "Help" menu for documentation on Protege.

The KWIZ and kb2doc tabs are documented in C:\SAGEWorkbench\Documentation\KWIZDocumentation.pdf.
The use of Apelon DTS tab and plugin is documented in C:\SAGEWorkbench\lib\plugins\com.apelon.dts_plugin\doc\.
The SAGE tab is documented in C:\SAGEWorkbench\Documentation\TheSAGEExecutionTab.pdf.

The SAGE workbench utilizes a terminology plug-in (the SAGE DTS tab) developed by Apelon, Inc. This plug-in provides access to the Apelon DTS (Distributed Terminology System) terminology service and allows users to view standard and SAGE-based terminologies, do concept queries, and view complex logical concept expressions. The Apelon DTS utilizes client-server technology and access to this functionality requires the user to log-in to the DTS server.

Apelon is providing a one-time license for SAGE evaluation which gives users a general DTS ID and Password for use during the initial launch of the SAGE web site. This log in will expire on 20 November 2006 after which users are expected to contact Apelon support for an individual ID and Password.

The following is a general DTS ID/Password that will expire 1 December 2006.
Connection: Secure Socket
Host: 63.126.41.231
Port: 2323
Username: sageuser
Password: sageuser

To obtain unique ID and Password that will continue to function after 1 December 2006, please complete the form at http://www.apelon.com/sage/request.htm. This information will be forwarded and we will reply with permanent access information. Thank you for your interest in SAGE!
